Bartlett City Schools is pleased to announce that Tim Jones has been named the Executive Director of Athletics and School Support for Bartlett City Schools beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.
Tim Jones is finishing his 9th year as Principal of Bartlett High School where his major areas of focus include Academics, Arts, and Athletics. Bartlett High School boasted one of the highest graduation rates in the area at 98% and was among the top high schools in the state, being named a Reward School in multiple years during his tenure. Mr. Jones tributes all successes to being surrounded by outstanding teachers and staff as well as having a supportive Central Office team of colleagues.
Tim Jones was a 4-year letterman QB for the University of Memphis Tiger’s Football team where he was part of historical victories over the University of Alabama and the Florida Gators. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s in Education.
After graduating from the University of Memphis, Mr. Jones started teaching and coaching for Craigmont High School where he served as Offensive Coordinator for the football team and Head Baseball Coach. He later joined Bolton High School to teach and coach football. As a teacher, Tim enjoyed experiences in various classes from 7th grade Math to AP Calculus. He also found the time to teach almost twenty years as an adjunct instructor for the University of Memphis where his favorite classes included Trigonometry and Calculus.
Tim Jones entered the world of administration by serving three years in legacy Shelby County Schools as the Mathematics Supervisor and later became the Vice Principal of Bartlett High School. When Bartlett formed the new municipal school district, Bartlett City Schools, Tim Jones became its first principal.
Dr. David Stephens, Superintendent of Bartlett City Schools, stated, “I am excited to bring someone of Tim’s background and educational experience to our Central Office team. Having worked directly with Tim for over twenty years in various leadership positions, I am certain he will bring that ‘Attitude of Excellence’ as we continue to build on past success. His leadership and commitment to our students will impact Bartlett City Schools in a positive way.”
Mr. Jones states that he is excited to be given the opportunity to continue to grow the athletic programs in Bartlett City Schools. He is also thrilled to work with the leadership to help support all the great programs and traditions of Bartlett High School.
