(section from article): Bartlett Elementary School, nestled in a suburb of the greater Memphis, Tennessee area, has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence dating back to the early 1900s. Recent grant funding from Tennessee Arts Commission Arts 360has done wonders to elevate teaching and learning at this traditional environment to a new, competitive standard.

BES’s shared mission with Arts 360 is “to bring teachers full circle, as learners, collaborators, facilitators, and reflectors, to improve instruction and have a positive effect on student achievement.” Developing an arts integrated teaching and learning environment has been vital to this vision. During the 2018-19 academic year, one of the ways in which Bartlett teachers endeavor to achieve “arts integration model school,” status is to work collaboratively on quarterly school-wide themes. Evidence of this collaboration takes the form of student work lining the halls. The visual compositions are individually unique, yet collectively related to a shared motif.
